🙀 Tooth resorption 🙀
(Formerly known as FORLs or feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions)
Ouch!
We had this patient in for dental treatment today due to the visual presence of tooth resorption in consult
Tooth resorption happens in adult cats and unfortunately the cause is not known so early prevention is not possible
Tooth resorption is painful and will usually result in jaw chattering when the lesions are probed under general anaesthesia. With that in mind it is best to place local nerve blocks in these patients before you attempt examination with a dental probe
This patient had stage 4-5 resorption on all of the lower premolars and molars due to the loss of dental hard tissues with both crown and root affected
😺 This patient will feel so much better with the affected teeth removed 😻
