The A-Z of Dentistry - Charting

Why do we chart teeth?

How do we chart teeth?

What do the numbers mean?

Does charting drive you crazy? It shouldn't do, once you understand what you're looking for they're actually really fun to fill out (that might just be me :D)! There are lots of dental charts available either online, through certain companies and others can be gained via online CPD (BVNA Oral Care Course for one). They all provide the same core information... the adult dentition, as can be seen on the image. The numbers create a universal way of being able to know which teeth have been treated, no matter who interprets that patients history.

I've always thought about creating my own, mixing elements from the many charts I've used in practice! What do you think?

What puts you off charting? I would love to know, then I might be able to help you fall in love with it!
